A package is marked as “Undeliverable” when the carrier cannot complete the delivery to your address. In most cases, the package is held at your local post office for a short time before being returned to the sender or disposed of.
1. Common Reasons for Delivery Failure
-
Incorrect/Incomplete Address: Missing house numbers, street names, or apartment/suite numbers are the most frequent causes.
-
Failed Delivery Attempts: Most carriers make 2-3 attempts before giving up.
-
No Secure Location: The carrier deemed it unsafe to leave the package and no one was home to sign for it.
-
Unclaimed at Post Office: The package was not collected within the carrier’s required timeframe (usually 5-10 days).
-
Refused by Recipient: Someone at the location declined the delivery.
2. What happens to the package?
-
Local Holding: The carrier will usually hold the package at a nearby facility for a few days.
-
Return or Disposal: If not claimed, it may be returned to our production facility. Since Oh Canvas products are personalized, if the error was due to an incorrect address provided by the customer, a re-shipping fee will apply to send it again.
3. What should I do now?
If your tracking status shows “Undeliverable” or “Returning to Sender”:
-
Contact Local Carrier (Fastest): Call your local post office immediately. They often still have the package and can arrange a redelivery or pickup before it’s sent back.
-
Contact Oh Canvas Support: If the carrier cannot help, email us at [email protected] with your Order ID and the Correct Shipping Address. Our team will provide options for reshipment.
4. How to avoid this in the future
-
Double-Check at Checkout: Ensure your House Number, Street, and Zip Code are 100% accurate.
-
Include your Phone Number: This helps carriers contact you if they have trouble finding your location.
-
Track Frequently: Monitor your tracking number. If you see a “Delivery Failure” status, act fast to contact your local carrier.
